Rick grew up in the Beaudesert region outside of Brisbane and received his first big break in 1988 when he was invited to sing lead vocals on "Celebration of the Nation", the theme song for Australia"s Bicentennial.

Over the next few years he honed his skills as a songwriter, with "Not A Day Goes By" being one of his first compositions and also his first hit single, peaking at #5 in March 1992. His second single "Heaven Knows" peaked at #6 a few months later and has become his signature song. Over the next few years he continued to have chart hits with "Walk Away Renee", "Where Is The Love (w Margaret Urlich)", "River Of Love" and "What"s Wrong With That Girl". His debut album "Heaven Knows" achieved double platinum sales and the follow-up "Tamborine Mountain" went gold. Rick travelled the world to promote "Heaven Knows" and achieved considerable success especially throughout Asian territories. Rick is very active and has released a number of albums following his departure from Sony and most recently has been touring and recording with Tommy Emmanuel.
