Emeka Ogboh

In the summer of 2021, the Nigerian artist Emeka Ogboh (*1977) transformed the centre of Frankfurt into a sound landscape on water and on land. The sound installation is dedicated to the city of Frankfurt am Main and offers a possible response to the crisis-ridden year 2020. For Emeka Ogboh, music is a medium for connecting people, regardless of their language, background, or religious denomination. The catalogue documents the staging of THIS TOO SHALL PASS in the city and provides insights into the creation and conception of the work with accompanying text contributions. Emeka Ogboh (*1977 in Enugu, Nigeria) lives and works in Berlin and Lagos. Sound is his preferred means of expression and the basis for his examination of other media, in order to explore the multilayered character and contexts of our existence. Solo exhibitions include et al. Gropius Bau, Berlin (2021), the Cleveland Art Museum, Cleveland, U.S. (2019), the Power Plant, Toronto (2018), Tate Modern, London (2017), the Staatliche Kunsthalle, Baden-Baden (2017), and Ludlow 38, New York (2016). The artist has participated in many group exhibitions, including the documenta 14, Athens and Kassel (2017) and Skulptur Projekte Münster (2017).
