  • Embodied Knowledge: Queensland Contemporary Art provides insight into art being produced throughout the state currently and examines the social conditions that have contributed to Queensland arts dynamic character. The book features photography and discussion of new work by 19 Queensland artists, some with little published on them to date, and prioritises the voices of people of colour, women and LGBTQIA+ artists. These artistic practices reflect on how traditional knowledges belonging to Queenslands Indigenous, immigrant or diasporic communities are shared; tactics of cultural resilience; and our changing relationship to both the natural and digital world. In addition to individual curatorial texts addressing the works of each artist included, this brightly coloured publication also features three long-form roundtable discussions between curators Ellie Buttrose and Katina Davidson and the artists, examining key threads in the exhibition. Featuring artists: Robert Andrew, James Barth, Janet Burchill and Jennifer McCamley, Megan Cope, Luli Eshraghi, Caitlin Franzmann, Heather Koowootha, Callum McGrath, Meuram Murray Island Dance Group, Archie Moore, Ethel Murray, Ryan Presley, Obery Sambo, Erika Scott, Vanghoua Anthony Vue, Rosie Ware, Jenny Watson, Warraba Weatherall, and Justene Williams.
