The Microraptor was a small carnivorous winged dinosaur from the woodlands of China that lived in the Early Cretaceous, approximately 120 million years ago. Its name, meaning small one who seizes, reflects its predatory nature. As one of the smallest non-avian dinosaurs, it measured only 1.2 m (3.9 ft) in length.
This remarkable creature had long flight feathers not only on its wings but also on its legs, a feature that distinguishes it from many other dinosaurs.
