LEGO 40370 - Trains 40th Anniversary Set

The set is made of 188 pieces, which build the train and baseplate. Two Medium Stone Gray 6 x 10 plates are connected by one 1 x 8 Black tile at the far side, joining them from the middle. Two more 6 x 10 Medium Stone Gray plates are connected (one on each side), with another two 1 x 8 Black tiles, also one on each side. There is a 1 x 6 Black tile that runs down the side on each end, and on the side with no tiles there is a 1 x 8 Black tile in the middle with a sticker that says "7810 Steam Engine," an homage to the original set that this set is a remake of. Four 2 X 3 Medium Stone Gray tiles are placed vertically inside, each reinforcing the baseplates further. Two 1 x 2 Medium Stone Gray tiles are in the middle, one on each side. A 1 x 1 Black tile is placed on either end of the side of the frame not completely covered in black tiles, and another two are placed in the middle, one on each side of the 1 x 8 tile with the sticker. One 2 x 2 Medium Stone Gray tile connects the two separate tiles on the left, and two 1 x 2 Transparent plates to the right. One 1 x 2 Medium Stone Gray tile connects the other two plates, with a 1 x 2 Transparent plate filling the gap and another Transparent plate being placed to the left of that. A Silver Metallic 1 x 2 grate is placed to the inward side of both, and a Silver Metallic plate is placed in the middle. Two 2 x 2 Transparent bricks are placed between the gaps, and a 2 x 2 Medium Stone Gray plate is placed on each of those, with a 2 x 2 Medium Stone Gray plate with knob on top of each of the Transparent plates. A 1 x 4 Black plate is placed on the right side of the incomplete edge, connecting the middle piece to the edge. Two 1 x 2 Black roof tiles are placed on top of that, each pointing a different direction to create a slope. The other side has a 1 x 4 Black plate with two 1 x 2 Black bearings on top of that, two 2 x 2 Black plates with bearings attached to those, a 4 x 4 Dark Stone Gray plate with reduced knobs on top of those, and a sticker with the 40th anniversary logo on top of that. This small build connects the other end of this edge, creating the 40th anniversary logo and finishing off the rim and the baseplate.

The second portion of the build is the wheel base. A 1 x 8 Bright Red ;TECHNIC ;brick has three Bright Red cross axles placed inside it at fixed spots, connected to three Bright Red train wheels and secured from the back with six Black 1 x 1 beams, two on each axle. A second 1x 8 brick is connected on the other side and secured on the other side with another three wheels. Two 2 x 10 Bright Red bricks are placed on top of these wheels. On the underside is two 1 x 4 Bright Red bricks, one on each end. This is placed on top of the baseplate.

The third portion of the build is the main train build. This is built from a 2 x 4 Bright Red plate with a 2 x 2 Bright Red coupling plate extending horizontally from the top middle, with a 2 x 2 Bright Red plate on either side of that. On top of these is a 2 x 6 Bright Red plate, with a 2 x 2 Bright Red plate on top of that and in the middle. Separate from that build is a 2 x 16 Bright Red plate, with a 1 x 2 Bright Red brick with hole on each side under that. A Black ;TECHNIC ;connector is stuck into both holes, and this build is replicated twice. Both of these builds are attached to each side of the first build at one end, extending outwards. A third build is made from a 2 x 8 Black plate with another 2 x 2 Bright Red plate with coupling pointing outwards from the middle, with a 1 x 2 Bright Yellow plate on each side. On top of these is two 2 x 4 Bright Red plates with a 2 x 2 Bright Red plate on top of that. On the sides are 2 x 2 Black roof tiles, one pointing outwards on each side. This is placed under the close end of the train build. A 2 x 2 Bright Red circle plate is connected to a Bright Red circle tile, and this build is repeated four times and attached to the TECHNIC connectors to serve as bumpers. At the far end is a 1 x 2 x 2 Bright Red ladder on each side, with stacks of two 1 x 2 Black plates on top of the ladders. In front of these is a 1 x 3 Black brick on each side, and in the back is a 1 x 2 Black brick with a 1 x 2 Black plate on top, and another brick on top of that, which is replicated on the other side. Stickers bearing the 7810 train number are placed on a 1 x 2 x 2 Black brick, which is put on top of a 1 x 2 Black plate. This is placed in front of the bricks in the back, with a 1 x 6 Black brick in front of these on each side, a 2 x 3 Black plate in front of that on each side, and a 1 x 1 Bright Red angular brick in front of that on each side. Each of the angular bricks has a Transparent Yellow stud, forming headlights. On top of the Black bricks are two 1 x 4 Black bricks on each side, and a large 6 x 8 Black baseplate is on top of all of these. A Black 1 x 2 roof tile is placed on top of this baseplate on each side in the back, with a 2 x 4 Black brick between them and with stickers on the back. On top of the baseplate is two 2 x 6 Black bricks, with a 2 x 2 x 3 Black roof tile on each side in the front, pointing outwards. A 1 x 4 Black inverted roof tile with cutouts has a 2 x 2 x 3 plate with overhanging under edge in the middle, with a 1 x 2 Black brick with hole on top and a Medium Stone Gray TECHNIC connector in the hole with a Transparent Yellow stud on the end and a 1 x 1 Black brick on each end, and a 1 x 2 Black tile in the front with a sticker on that tile. This build is placed on top of the front build. Four 2 x 4 Black roof tiles are on the top, two on each side pointing outwards. Behind these is two more 2 x 3 Black roof tiles. A 1 x 2 Black brick is in the back with three 1 x 2 plates with knobs spaced out across the top. The side walls have two 1 x 1 Black bricks on top of each other on each side in the back, with two 1 x 2 x 2 Black windows in front of that on each side. A 6 x 6 Black baseplate has four 3 x 3 Black roof tiles, two extending outwards on each side. On the underside is a 1 x 2 Black angular plate in the middle extending over the edge, with a 1 x 2 tile on the edge with stickers on that. This makes a roof that is placed on top of the train. This forms the train's body, with three Black 1 x 1 cylinders on each plate to form chimneys and a 2 x 2 Black circle brick topped by a 2 x 2 Bright Red circle plate topped by a 2 X 2 Black circle brick, which is in the front and acts like a smokestack. This train body is placed on the wheels, which are placed on the frame.
